Help Flood
Survivors in Nepal
The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, Inc., JDC, is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, contributions to which are deductible for federal income tax.
Right now, JDC is working with local partners in Nepal to provide vital humanitarian aid like water filters, hygiene kits, and medical assistance to the most vulnerable earthquake survivors.
Triggered by a major glacier collapse in the Himalayas, the floods killed more than 1,000 people, sending a massive surge of water, mud, and debris through one of the country’s most densely populated and economically significant river corridors. Over 5,000 remain missing, and critical infrastructure, including roads, bridges, homes, water systems, and energy facilities, has sustained severe damage.
With proven experience in Nepal, where we supported relief and recovery efforts for five years following the 2015 earthquake through trusted local partners and community-based initiatives, JDC can reach populations in hard-to-access mountain communities in these critical days of early recovery.
